Groundwater Management Area 12

Groundwater Management Area 12 is a legislatively established regional body in Texas that consists of five groundwater conservation districts (GCDs) responsible for managing shared groundwater resources, particularly the Carrizo-Wilcox, Gulf Coast, Trinity, Brazos River Alluvium, Queen City, Sparta, and Yegua-Jackson aquifers. These five GCDs work together to develop and implement Desired Future Conditions (DFCs) for these aquifers to ensure the sustainable management and conservation of groundwater resources across the region.

GMA 12 manages seven confined aquifers and one unconfined river alluvium aquifer, including the Carrizo-Wilcox, Gulf Coast, Trinity, Brazos River Alluvium, Queen City, Sparta, and Yegua-Jackson aquifers.

GMA 12 covers parts of 14 Central Texas counties, including Bastrop, Brazos, Burleson, Falls, Fayette, Freestone, Lee, Leon, Limestone, Madison, Milam, Navarro, Robertson, and Williamson.
