OpenStreetMap Texas extract (Geofabrik shapefiles) for land use, roads and waterways

Summary. Geofabrik's daily Texas extract of OpenStreetMap as shapefiles: landuse, buildings, roads, railways, waterways, water, natural, places, POIs.

Scenarify role. Land use (strongly recommended) via Scenarify's built-in OSM land-use mapping for roughness, interception and infiltration; OSM visual layers (places, roads, railways, waterways). Also a building-footprint fallback.

Access. Public HTTPS zip, no auth, updated daily (~1 GB). Clip to Kerr County before upload.

Format and CRS. Shapefile set (.shp/.dbf/.shx/.prj), WGS84 (EPSG:4326). Reproject to EPSG:6343.

Coverage. Texas; OSM edited continuously since 2004, extract rebuilt daily.

Provenance and caveats. Volunteer-mapped; land-use polygons are incomplete in rural Kerr County, so pair with NLCD or TPWD EMST for roughness. ODbL licence requires attribution and share-alike for derived databases.
