Texas Terrain 1 m DTM: Kerr and Kendall counties (TACC Corral)

Summary. County-mosaicked 1 m digital terrain models for Kerr and Kendall counties from the TACC Corral "Texas Terrain" delivery tree, with hillshade and per-pixel survey provenance. Primary terrain for the Kerrville / upper Guadalupe River Scenarify flood model.

Scenarify role. Main terrain (DEM), required for River, Sewer and Rain scenarios. Also defines the project CRS. Neighbouring county DTMs (bandera, gillespie, real, kimble) serve as the secondary/decoration terrain cascade.

Access. Plain HTTPS, no authentication. Files are Cloud-Optimized GeoTIFFs with internal overviews, so gdalwarp/rasterio can read a window via /vsicurl/ without downloading the 6.4 GB county file, e.g. gdalwarp -te 470000 3320000 500000 3335000 /vsicurl/https://web.corral.tacc.utexas.edu/texas_terrain/kerr/kerr_dtm_1m.tif clip.tif. Interactive map: https://web.corral.tacc.utexas.edu/texas_terrain/map.html. Statewide mosaic: statewide/dtm.vrt.

Format and CRS. GeoTIFF, Float32, nodata -9999, 1.0 m pixels, 512x512 tiles, DEFLATE, overviews 2-256. EPSG:6343 (NAD83(2011) / UTM zone 14N), metres. No vertical CRS tag in the file; all source surveys report vertical_unit: meters (NAVD88 per the USGS/StratMap specifications). Kerr extent 426979-507955 E, 3294565-3351234 N (80976 x 56669 px). Kendall extent 507627-556552 E, 3287377-3334247 N.

Coverage. Kerr County and Kendall County, Texas. Source surveys 2011-2021 (see caveats).

Provenance and caveats. - Compose recipe lattice-compose-v1: a priority stack of 7 lidar surveys where the highest index wins each pixel. kerr_provenance_1m.tif (uint8) holds the winning survey index per pixel; kerr_provenance.json maps index to survey. - Over the Hunt-Ingram, Kerrville and Center Point reaches 91-94 % of pixels come from stratmap-2011-50cm-blanco-kendall-kerr (2011, 50 cm) and only 4-7 % from usgs-2019-70cm-hurricane (2019), because the 50 cm survey outranks the 70 cm one. Treat the terrain as 2011 vintage along the river. - The product is tagged PROVENANCE_PRODUCT=buildings-in: buildings are retained in the surface (verified by sampling Peterson Regional Medical Center). Building footprints should be used for interception/visuals only, or a bare-earth variant requested from the Texas Terrain maintainers. - Predates the 4 July 2025 flood; no 2025-26 survey exists in any Hill Country county stack (checked 2026-11-05).
