NOAA notebooks and data

Suzanne-

First: Thanks for facilitating our use of the University resources to upload our data!!

Probably the best spot to start would be our imagery collection on NOAA's Open Data Dissemination AWS Bucket:

https://noaa-eri-pds.s3.amazonaws.com/index.html

We don't have an API but the availability on AWS opens up access to a bunch of tools. A great resource to start is the attached PDF and this notebook:

https://gitlab.cicsnc.org/workshop-development/eri_notebook

Imagery for the current event is available here:

https://noaa-eri-pds.s3.amazonaws.com/index.html#2025_Texas_Flood/

In each of the directories you will find an index file, eg:

https://noaa-eri-pds.s3.amazonaws.com/2025_Texas_Flood/20250717a_RGB/tile_index_20250717a_RGB.tar

There is an index of all of the data here (but please note it is not updated until after an event so it will not contain the imagery collected recently):

https://noaa-eri-pds.s3.amazonaws.com/noaa_eri_pds.parquet

The tutorial and notebook offer a lot of examples of ways to interact with the data. Jason and I also spend a lot of time slicing and dicing through the data at the command line and would be willing to assist if needed. Most of the examples of command line use in the examples were developed by us.

All of our data are public domain, we do ask that you credit NOAA for any use of the data.

Let us know how we can help!

Jon
